I guess I should write about 9/11

Everyone and their dog will have something about 9/11 in their blog today I guess, so why should I be any different?

I hate 9/11, but not for the reasons most of you hate it.  I hate the memory of it, because it takes a time in my life where I was in the middle of making probably one of the most spectacular business errors of my career in the adult industry.  That date will forever connect me to a time, a place, and a person who turned out to be a massive negative influence in much I did for about a 3 year stretch.

I arrived in Las Vegas early (about midnight or 1 am) Vegas time on 9/11.  That’s right, I got off a plane about 5 and half hours before the first plane hit.  I will always remember the exact words that were used to wake me up, just after the second plane had hit.  “you are probably going to want to see this”.  Not that long after, the towers came down.  It was a truly sad day.   For me, it is sort of a weird thing, because as I said, the event and the annual press hoopla puts me back into a place and time that I now realize was the very shit end of a very stupid will goose chase.

So for me, 9/11 will forever be tied not only to terrorism, death, Bin Ladin, and all that came with it, but with a series of truly dumb business decisions.

All that being said, please take a few minutes out of your day today to think about the thousands of people who died, were injured, or who lost family and friends as a result of this attack. Take a moment to mourn the loss of innocence that the US experienced as a result of this event, and take a moment to remember all the freedom and lightheartedness that has been lost as a result of these attacks.   We will never travel the world the same way, we will never be at peace in our travels, and we will forever look at airplanes and air travel in a different way.

When you get tired of having a mopey ass time thinking about all that horrible stuff, take a break and fire up a nice live chat room and chat with a nice hot babe (or two) and have a good time.  Click here and go live now and relax!

Rental Car Reviews: 2006 Jeep Liberty

jeep libertyAs Yogi Berra said, “It’s like Deja Vu, all over again”.  The Jeep Liberty is one of the weirder driving experiences you will ever have… Set the wayback machine for 1970!

Here’s the deal.  I have about 350 miles to drive, and the vehicle of choice for this trip is a Jeep Liberty, pretty much right down to the color a match for the picture here.  4 wheel drive and all, not really important for this clear day and flat run down the highway, but a clear feature and right there.  It includes a low range, this is a Jeep and it will go off road with the best of them.

Anyway, I hop in bright and early in the morning, and head down the road.  within 3 minutes, my back is screaming in pain.  The seating position is horrid!  The only adjustments are seatback angle and forwards and backwards, and with much effort, I was able to find a position that didn’t feel like a torture rack.  Make not mistake, these are not the good seats.  It feels like 1970.

The seats aren’t the only reminder of this way back design layout.  The roof feels low.  The seat feels high.  The windshield seems small.  The doors are narrow.  The door glass is particularly narrow and short, a result of combining the low roof with the high beltline and the large metal wrap area on the doors.  These windows are pretty much a dead match for a 1980 or so cherokee.

Around the interior you will find Chrylser corporate bits all around, heating, radio, and pretty much every control is 100% corporate parts bin stuff.  Not that it is a bad thing but the interior as a result is pretty much generic Chryco stuff.  The cup holders are decent, but poorly placed at the back of the center console, where you have to take your eyes off the road and look down to pick up or drop off your beverage of choice.  The radio sounds okay, and everything else pretty much seems to be about right, in the functional sort of a way.

The really weird thing is the feeling I got of vertical.  Everything in this truck is up and down and narrow.  There is very much space in the front seats, but the distance to the windsheild feels a bit short (and it is, touching the glass while in a driving position isn’t much of a stretch, there is maybe only 3 inches from the edge of the dashboard to the glass).  Because you are sitting pretty straight up, you sort of tower over the interior, which adds to their weird feeling.

Rear seats have the same feeling, but legroom is generous as a result, because you tend to sit like a school chair, not sprawled out like some cars.  Comfort back there isn’t any better than the fronts, and the only inclining these seats do is to lay down to extend the cargo area.  That Cargo area is a little shorter than you might want, considering that it is a truck.  The rear overhang is quite short, which is a good thing.

The whole driving feel of this truck is vintage Cherokee Cheif as well.  Rear wheel drive combined with a compliant off road acceptable suspension means that there is a fair bit of movement.  In fact, there is enough play that you can wiggle the wheel back and forth slightly at highway speed and make the body of the truck dance without having the truck do anything but stay straight.   This is guaranteed to get your co-pilots and passengers slapping you in the head, as they will be sea sick within seconds.

Overall, unless you are really, really caught on the idea of major offroading, I would say that there are any other number of mini-utes on the market that would outdoor this truck, including the RAV4 and such…   It isn’t a horrible vehicle, but not one I would see myself buying as primary transport.

The Move is Over!

well, at least I think it is… damn, moving hosts is a royal pain in the ass when you got stuff.   It’s like it’s easy to move a 1 room apartment, hell to move a house.  I moved house.  It’s hell.

Anyway, things are settling down, the DNS (the way that the internet knows how to find in-the-raw.com here instead of there) is about settled, and pretty much everything seems clean.   There are still a few things getting cleaned up, but basically everything is right on track.  So much so that I have started to turn out some porn again.

First off, I updated Teenager-x with some hot pics from Goth Teen Liz Vicious (Click here)… she is truly fucking hot and unique.. a great thing!  I will have a whole bunch of free promotional sites for her coming soon, keep your eye on the site Goth Girlfriend for more when they are done.

I also fixed up and sorted out some “automation” issues with Porn Pig.  The site now updated reliably 4 times each day, getting you the hottest porn blog entires from all over the place.  It’s worth a bookmark, that is for sure.  Click here for Porn Pig!

In the non-porn world, Both Kizo Technology News and Latest Movies and Reviews are also updating much more regularly, thanks to a seriously improved server configuration that really flies through these tasks with little or no timeouts or failures.  They two are now updating 4 times daily. so you can always find fresh stuff there.

More updates and upgrades on the way, things are looking great, everything is working out fine… so stay tuned 🙂

A moving experience

One of the very painful parts about running a website is selecting a host for your site. For those of you who are not techie, that means selecting the company who provides the computer connected to the internet where your website actually lives. While I am based in Montreal, my webservers have been located in Atlanta, Ga. for the last 6 years. That is about to change, and that is a great and scary thing.

The scary part is that the underside of a website for the most part is a ton of fairly complex plumbing and combative code. If you ever saw the movie Brazil, you have seen what the internet looks like. Under the shiny and pretty exterior is the code of hundreds of different people running over equipment made by different people over wires owned by all sorts of people to computers that are all different in their own way.

Every server is different. Even if you build two identical boxes right side by side, and load the same exact software on them, the moment you flip the switch and start building a website, they are different and they will never again be the same.

So over the next couple of weeks, I will be (theoretically) pulling the tent poles out from under hundreds of websites and putting them back up in another place, hopefully entirely invisibly and hopefully without disturbing your enjoyment.   It is the electronic equivialant of the spinning plates routine at the circus, where you try to keep all the plates spinning and not having any of them fall.  The move isn’t far in theory (the sites are going to be served from what is known as the “NAP of the Americas”, a well connected and super strong facility in Florida.  This will improve the speed at which the sites can be seen in Europe, South America, and Asia as this is a major switching hub for all of those areas as they enter in the US.  Effectively, I have moved everything a couple of steps closer to you.

It will take a few days, that is for sure, and everything is slowly getting set up and things are looking good.  Hopefully things will move without a blink… here is to hoping!

Of Domains and Things…

Well, the last couple of weeks have been pretty weird here at porn headquarters. Summer is always a little weird in the online porn mongering world because summetime tends to drive people outdoors to enjoy the nice weather. People take vacations, spend time with their families, and generally do things that don’t include curling up in their den with the latest Tawnee Stone – Jordan Capri lesbian sex adventure. Overall visitors to porn sites drop, and more importantly for those of use who do this “commercially” people are less prone to purchase memberships and whatnot. Our industry calls it the “summer slump”, and I just call it a weird time of the year.

Unlike many people in the biz, I don’t take summer off. Rather, summer is a time when I look at all the stuff I have done in the previous while and see what the heck I want to be doing with it in the future. My company owns about 1000 internet domain names, so there is much to look at (if I spend 5 minutes on each domain, that would take 4 days if I didn’t take a break, and about 2 weeks on a regular 8 hour day. But 5 minutes really isn’t much time at all (this message might take 20 minutes for me to write) so you can imagine that there are some corners of the empire that just don’t get visited all that often.

Internet domain names aren’t really owned as much as leased on a yearly basis. In the case of my domain portfolio, about 50% of all the domains I own expire in august and september each year. As a result, this month in particular is a big time for me to be looking at all the things I own and make sure that they make sense to keep. I have probably pared down the list by about 50 or 60 domains this year, as things have gone out of style or I have lost interest in working on those things.

Other companies also step up and get busy this time of year, and I have had someone recently purchase a domain from me for a pretty good price ($x,xxx), which I think is a good deal for them as well as me. I wasn’t doing as much with it as I could have, I am sure they will develop it better that I did, and I still took home probably 10 -15 times yearly earnings that I was getting from it, so it is all good for everyone involved.

Anyway, so in the process of going through all that stuff I find really interesting sites that I had forgotten I had made. Such as my collection of Real Peachez galleries or Teen Topanga promo videos… plus some real junk I am honestly too shy to share with you, safe to say it has been added to the list of things to fix! It’s fun to do this sort of stuff.

Anyway, all this just to say if I happen to be a little slack on the posting here, it is because I am trying to get that 5 minutes for each domain, to make the porn better for your enjoyment! In the meantime, enjoy the summer 🙂

Two new amateurs added

Sexy Amateur thumbs got an upgrade with two hot new amateurs gracing the site:

AndiPink – sexy and sweet… a real love doll!

Liz Vicious – Goth girl with attitude to spare… and a truly sexy body!

Both of those sections have at least 20 galleries for these hot girls… so check it out 🙂

Rental Car Reviews: 2007 Camry

2007 camryAnother weekend trip had me driving around in a just about new 2007 Toyota Camry. Refridgerator white, LE version with a 2.4-liter 4 cylinder VVTi, twin cam, 4 valves per cylinder. 158 hp at 6,000 rpm, 161 lb-ft torque ( I stole the specs from another site, there you go). Light color interior, and let me tell you, this car feels big, drives big, and is pretty darn, well, not small.

It should be noted that I drove this car back to back with a 2006 Ford Taurus, which in theory is the direct competition for this car. The differences are striking, and I think now I can understand why the Camry has become the best selling car. I did a similar amount of mileage in each car, with mixed city and highway driving totaling about 500 miles.

The new Camry has got a big shnoz. It has a big nose. It is striking, in a similar manner to the Dodge Magnum, it has a pretty big presence when you walk up to it from the front. I am sure it makes a pretty big presence in rear view mirrors as well… 🙂 Anyway, the profile almost says hatchback, as the trunk is cut in pretty deep under the back window. I found the truck lid opened very wide, but wasn’t all that big of an opening. I would say that the trunk is huge, but much of it is under the rear parcel tray. It gives the car a very nice overall swoopy look. It’s nice.

The interior size is huge. 5 passanger size space, a huge rear seat and the fronts are generous in size as well. No problem putting 4 full sized adults in this car for a very long trip, and 5 for a reasonable trip wouldn’t be punishment. The inside is really well appointed, and I was most impressed with the HVAC controls. Three round knobs, very simple, but each one is also a push button. The temperature control is also a push button for the AC on/off, the fan for the recycle, and the vent selector turns the reare defroster on and off. It makes for an extremely neat package with few apparent buttons, and allows the nice smooth fake metal panel to look wonderful. Clean and simple, and totally functional.

I would have prefered the car with the 6 rather than the 4, but to be honest with you, this isn’t a sports car, so don’t worry too much. There was enough ponies for this car to keep up in traffic, and the milage was pretty darn good, in theory 32-34mpg on the highway, and I think with the cruise set reasonably I got pretty much that result.

Downsides?  Well, the car has the soul of an appliance.  There isn’t really anything exciting about driving this car.  It is nice to drive, pleasant and not at all annoying, but certainly not anything you would mention to anyone.  It is a very capable car and I am sure that pushed to it, the car would turn nicely and run pretty well, but I felt no desire to see.  I don’t even think I made a really hard accelleration from a traffic light or stop sign or anything, the car just doesn’t even suggest that as being a good idea.  I felt very responsible driving this car.

Quite possibly the perfect car for people who buy them to go from A to B but not to notice the trip.  I suspect it will be a huge seller!

Happy Country Celebration Time

For the americans, July 4th is the day.  For us Canucks, July 1st does it.  France gets Bastille Day on the 14th.  Everyone is celebrating!

I’m celebrating too be adding two more blogs to my never ending stream of blogdom.

Horny Asian Pussy is a nice asian oriented blog.  The girls vary all over the road from pure japanese street girls to Asian American pornstars and thai bargirls.  If the girl is asian and likes to get naked (and preferably fuck) I will have her in here!

Hard-X Hardcore Blog is all about fucking.  Nothing but.  Every day you will find nice fresh fucking.  Direct and to the point, you like it hard, we got it hard.

Cumshot Archive is pretty new too.  This one is like the name says – all cumshots.  Facial cumshots, bukkake, anal cumshots, swallowers, cream pies… if there is goo involved, we got you covered… but you won’t be covered in goo (unless you want to be…)

Anyway, it’s a bunch of new stuff, you can add some bookmarks because these will all update just about every day (or every day if I am a good boy!).

Days off with an interesting car

I took a day off yesterday (and part of today) and took a little trip to Toronto to do some stuff, see a friend, and do some shopping. Living in Quebec isn’t bad or anything, but language issues and whatnot do keep some companies out of the market place (Old Navy only showed up last year), and Toronto does have a good selection of stores and whatnot.

On the ride back, I got to drive a Toyota Prius. Hybrid car. First hybrid I have ever driven. Nice car.

I refer to it as a video game. You get in, insert your ID chip (not a key) and push the start button. Things light up, the screen comes on, but nothing happens.

Then you take the little joystick and push it towards the D postion, and the car is in drive. Still no noise except maybe the fan for the AC running.

Push the gas, and the car moves away smoothly and if you push enough, engages the actual engine. Drive along to the first traffic light, stop for the red, and the car shuts off the engine and just dies. Until you push the gas to go, and the process continues.

I drove all over Toronto (almost 150kms in town) and back to Montreal (550kms) and averages 5.2l/100kms or 45 miles per gallon, in a car with an interior the size of a camry.

Yowsa!

Anyway, more later…just wanted to mention that:)
